Walk With Refugees 2019
June 22 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
For World Refugee Day, communities across Canada will Walk with Refugees to put refugee voices up front.
Every year people are forcibly displaced from their homes, their communities, even their countries through no fault of their own. Some of them arrive in Canada seeking to rebuild their lives in communities of welcome, safety and opportunity. MCRS participates in the international Walk with Refugees to celebrate the privilege we have of accompanying people as they seek refuge in our community.
The Walk with Refugees gives us an opportunity to learn from their journey to better understand the mind, heart, and challenges of refugees. We also learn of specific ways we as a community can welcome, empower, and become better neighbours with refugees, because we are definitely better together!
We will gather at Kitchener City Hall. From there we will walk and visit key organizations that work with refugees, finishing at Victoria Park where we will join the KW Multicultural Festival!
All are welcome! Bring your family, wear YELLOW and bring noise makers and banners and whatever else will draw attention to show your support!
The KW Multicultural Festival is an annual all-weekend celebration showcasing various performances, vendors and wonderful food from around the world. Let the Walk with Refugees be just the beginning of a weekend of celebrating!
