MCRS partners with agencies and community organizations to help meet the needs of refugee claimants who pass through our doors. Links, valuable letter content and important documents are available for your convenience. If you require additional help, please contact MCRS directly.

The Working Centre is a non-profit, community-based, volunteer-inspired venture that seeks to give individuals and groups access to tools and opportunities to become involved in the building of community projects in Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas.  MCRS partners directly with The Working Centre on such projects as the Sewing Group and the Speak English Café,. MCRS also refers refugee claimants to other services The Working Centre offers such as employment counselling, help in finding housing, and St. John’s Kitchen.

The Mennonite Savings and Credit Union (MSCU) is an ongoing supporter of MCRS. Providing support for various programs. Currently MSCU is providing support for MCRS to work on a Financial Literacy program for refugee claimants.

Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) is a relief, development, and peace agency of the North American Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches.  MCC supports many organizations both in Canada and abroad and encourages the growth and development of grassroots initiatives like MCRS. MCRS began under the umbrella of MCC in 1987.

Mennonite Church Eastern Canada is an umbrella organization that brings together many of the Mennonite churches in Eastern Canada.  It is an organization that seeks to support Mennonite churches and their ministries as well as organizations such as MCRS that have their roots in the Anabaptist faith community.

The K-W Reception Centre offers some accomodations for refugee claimants when they have space available -- space that is not filled by Canadian Government-sponsored refugees.

House of Friendship is a Christian non-profit human service agency that serves 32,500 women, men, youth and children living on low-income in Waterloo Region annually.  Their Food Hamper program is a life-line to many refugee families in the first weeks of their arrival in Canada..

Welcome Home is a refugee housing community supported by International Teams Canada and Ray of Hope Inc.. As a Christian ministry, Welcome Home desires to provide a 'welcome home' to those who have been forced to flee their homeland due to war, persecution and oppression. They provide refugee claimants with housing within a supportive community.

The Kitchener Waterloo Multicultural Centre offers programs and support to new Canadians.  Refugee claimants can receive settlement support from them but cannot access all programs.  For support with a refugee claim, please check with MCRS.  The KW Multicultural Centre offers interpretation and translation services on a pay-per-service basis.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation provides grants to various organizations on a local and province-wide level.  Their mission is "to help build healthy and vibrant communities by strengthening the capacity of the voluntary sector through investments in community-based initiatives."

Using endowment funds coming from donations, The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation provides grants to several local charities and not-for-profit organizations which support various causes within the community.

Cambridge Shelter provides emergency shelter and many other supporting services and programs to individuals and families experiencing homelessness; including refugees.

The Law Foundation of Ontario provides organizations working with the legal community with grants to reduce the workload of lawyers and legal professionals through programs designed to support individuals through their legal proceedings, this includes the refugee claim process.
