Sewing Group

The MCRS Sewing Group provides an opportunity for refugee claimant women to come together to sew, meet new friends, share their stories and develop their English skills in a non-judgmental and welcoming environment. The Sewing Group also incorporates an inter-faith component, encouraging the women to learn about each other's religious backgrounds and to support each other in an accepting way. The Sewing Group runs every Monday from 1 to 3pm in the basement of The Working Centre.
Highlights
- Sewing group members have bonded particularly well and plan their own potlucks, social events, and holiday parties.
- The number of participants interested in the sewing group has outgrown the amount of space and number of machines available.
The Sewing Group is currently looking for donations of sewing machine needles, other needles and basic thread (white and black). Other items are also required less frequently. Prior to donating please contact Jennifer at email or (519) 571-1912.
